Indoor Localisation

The use of location-based services and applications inside of buildings is becoming increasingly important. For example:

  • Pedestrian navigation in public buildings
  • Tool/machine search in production halls
  • Navigation in parking garages to free parking space

The basic requirement is the knowledge of the own position in the accuracy required by the application. Established satellite-based positioning systems such as GPS or Galileo are unsuitable due to their limited accuracy and availability for a reliable indoor localisation. We develop therefore alternative measurement systems and algorithms, which allow the provision of position information with an accuracy suitable for indoor navigation.
